John & Rose

I went sales shopping in Brussels last month and yes, I am a girl, I should love a good day of shopping... but I don't. If I could buy everything online I would. (and 75% of the time I do!) The sales shopping day was interrupted though with a lunch at John & Rose and if there is something I really like, well it's food and discovering new places. It was a heaven of peace and calmness on my hectic Brussels day.

The menu is short but had exactly the bowl of homemade veggie soup I was longing for (with the finger food!) and some great salad suggestions I will definitely try next time! Very friendly service, relaxed, homely feel, I could have happily stayed the whole afternoon.

John & Rose is a combination of art gallery and coffeebar, with some comfy sofa's and just the right amount of tables to not feel crowded. Every month there are new (local) artists on display. There is a grand piano at the back, which would be great for living room concerts, but I heard only the owner plays it after closing hours. Hint?

I am definitely going to come back to try their brunch menu on weekends and yes, I will wear the shoes I bought in the sales that day!
