Les Cheese & Wine Sauvages

Last week I went to a cheese and wine event in Brussels. Axelle Minne, editor-in-chief of Alphabeta Magazine and food design graduate organizes together with Crémants et Vins du Luxembourg and Fromages de Suisse three evenings of tastings this summer. The first one was in July, somewhere idyllic in the forest. But last week the weather gods were a bit too playful with the rainclouds and Axelle had to bring in plan B. 
She couldn't have found a more perfect spot: Tarasloft is the kind of loft you would love to live in and have lots of parties at. The street seems to hold no promises, but when you walk through the big double doors into the hidden green courtyard a mirage is appearing: white wooden staircase, wooden beamed ceiling and a old open fire that would make you wish it was winter. 

What a welcoming place and what a welcoming table was there waiting for us. With a sparkly Crémants de Luxembourg in our hand we had a first walk around the table and discovered not only the big chunks of emmenthal and gruyère and but also a selection of soft cheeses from Cremerie de Tongres (the truffle goats cheese!) and plates filled with cookies from MadebyBake. I admit I couldn't resist to start with a chocolate and sea salt cookie while I was waiting in line for my plate. Which were great plates by the way, all vintage selection from My Belle Vaisselle

It was so lovely to meet Elfya and her partner from Vroom Vroom Coffee again but also to talk to Bérange who makes all those delicious sweets at Bake and Sophie from Prélude, the new coffee place in Saint-Gilles where they sell bento boxes and where I so want to go to (soon!). 

The third Cheese & Wines Sauvages will take place on 25 September, keep a close eye on Axelle's Facebook event page because the tickets sell out very quickly!
